T41 2373 NG9 - Fan Noise

#1 Post by holberg19 » Sun May 21, 2006 7:43 pm

Hi folks

My T41 is acting weird (or is it? you tell me). The fan noise is loud! Even when only surfing on the internet, it gets pretty hot and the fan is very loud. Is anyone out there using a T41 that can tell me if they are experiencing the same problem?

Best regards

Morten

Try this:
1. Centrino Hardware Control (undervolt CPU)

2. RMClock + FanControl Utilities.

hope it works fine with your T41.

Temp was about 50-52 but the fan was running fast as hell for some reason?

I have downloaded the Fan Control Utiliy and im running at 49-50 degrees with the fan level at 0 during browsing and emailing. These are my settings:

Level=47 0
Level=51 1
Level=55 3
Level=60 7
Level=70 128

But, pretty weird. Im doing the same things on the PC, but at excessive fan rpm the CPU is 3-4 degrees warmer than with the fan off... Makes no sence.

Didnt undervolt the CPU.

Best regards

Strange, as 50-52 is pretty normal for being plugged into AC and the fan shouldn't be on max.

Now you have to tweak the TP FCU a tad to get it to fix that.

Just one more thought, the GPU or PCI aren't running high are they?

The FCU has fixed the fans extreme RPM's at about the same temps.

The GPU is at the same lvl as the CPU - PCI temps are not available.

At this moment the TP has the following temps (3 firefox windows and a few other minor programs running):

CPU 50°C (0x78)
APS 46°C (0x79)
PCM 33°C (0x7a)
GPU 51°C (0x7b)
BAT 34°C (0x7c)
BAT 31°C (0x7e)
BUS 0°C (0xc0)
PCI 0°C (0xc1)
PWR 0°C (0xc2)

@ fan lvl 2 (3063 RPM) using FCU.

When I cange it to bios it goes to 3602 RPM.
