Question about connecting an alternative monitor directly.

#1 Post by austin785 » Wed Aug 04, 2004 3:38 pm

How can I make it so that the alternative monitor is on and running, and the laptop allows me to close it and use a keyboard and mouse? (Basically, using my laptop as a desktop.)

I didn't buy a docking station because I saw that the laptop has a monitor jack, and Im not sure if you are required to have a station to use the laptop in this way.

nope, dont need a docking station.

Plug the monitor in and turn it on. Then right click on desktop> properties> settings - from here you can adjust the resolution of both laptop screen and other screen. You can even set it to run extended desktop onto the 2nd monitor

Yeah I've been fooling with it but for some reason unless I set it as monitor #1 I can't modify the refresh rate and whatnot.

And then the laptop LCD goes bonkers when I tell it to resume control as main screen.
