Scheduled checkdisk
Scheduled checkdisk
Hi all,
I had a nasty crash a couple of weeks ago and after recovering scheduled check disk to run (next time windows starts). For some reason when it tries to run, checkdisk isn't able to access the C drive. Its like something has locked the drive until windows has started.
Not sure if this is related, but I also got an error when I tried to install the the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution.
Anyone got any idea as to what might be going on? Or at least how I can cancel a scheduled scan?
Cheers,
J

You not not wrong, that is what its trying to do. The machine reboots and before windows starts, checkdisk is supposted to run but something is making it fail. Now I can't actually check my disk and I have to watching it try and fail every time I reboot.

chkdsk c: /f on a command line (Start -> Run -> CMD) ought to do a full, auto-repair check on the next restart. If anything is preventing that (like a/v software, or something more sinister), I'd ensure you have a good, reliable backup of our drive....
More info that might help you:
To see if any drives are marked "dirty," run chkntfs [volume], e.g. chkntfs c: . To return drive checking to normal just enter chkntfs /d. To cancel checking on a specific drive, chkntfs [volume] /x, e.g. chkntfs c: /x.
For more info, chkntfs /?.
