I'm trying to connect a palm Tungsten E to my T42 with infrared, but nothing seems to work. I've done this before with my old 600e without a hitch, so I'm beginning to think my T42's infrared port maybe has never worked to begin with...
Yes, the infrared is enabled both in the BIOS and Windows XP; I've checked the settings of the Wireless Link in the control panel and everything is at the default settings (which worked with my 600e) with Windows reporting it works properly - and of course I made sure the Infrared service was up and running. The driver is up to date though supplied by Windows.
What am I missing here? I'm holding the Tungsten two inches away from the infrared port and waiting for Windows to make that noise when it detects an infrared device, but nothing happens. Also, I'm fairly sure the Tungsten's infrared is not broken, since everything else on it works.

Wow... thanks for the super-quick reply cmarti.
Yes, I've made sure the service is running: it's set on Automatic and it has 'Started' according to the status.
Still doesn't work
Edit:
Ok, the weird thing is, it was set on Automatic and Started, so I manually restarted it to see if it makes any difference - and NOW it works! I will restart the T42 and see if it will work without having to manually restart the service each time I want to use the device.
Edit 2:
Ok ok... it seems I'm just an impatient person
It takes my T42 at least 10 seconds to recognize my Tungsten, whereas it took only about a second on my 600e. This is quirky and slightly annoying, but at least it's good to know my infrared port isn't broken.
