Upgrading IBM T42 in shop

Hi All!

I'm from Hungary and i'm very bad in English therefore i'm sorry. My friend going to travelling in next week to New York (Manhattan). I like to upgrading my T42 but in Hungary it is a lot of money. I thinking my friend can to buy low.
I need for T42: a DVD writer, +512 mb memoria, and 7200rpm hard drive (40gb or 60gb).
I like to known how much this accessories, and where can my friend find a good store in manhattan or by near where he can buy for me? Thank you in anticipation.

Maybe someone else can help, but I don't know of any stores in New York that keep ThinkPad accessories (such as DVD drives) in stock. We buy them online by mail-order from Lenovo or other sources. The drives and memory are standard items, but they are mostly bought online also.

The usual national chains are well represented in NY; J & R is a local shop, with a national reach that stocks IBM parts. Not the lowest prices in the US (that is usally mail order), but reliable and efficient.
