T40 soundcard playing internal comuter sounds

#1 Post by renderful » Fri May 26, 2006 8:54 am

The soundcard on my T40(2373-PU7) has gone whacko. It plays sounds generated from within the laptop. Hard drive sounds, fan sounds, typing sounds etc... Since it picks up it's own sounds(it has no microphone, but I disabled the line in and microphone in windows just in case), it creates horrible FEEDBACK. So it basically takes back in the sound from the speakers(SOMEWHERE), and reoutputs the sound resulting in something I'd only want to hear at a Punk concert.

Anyone have any idea what could have happened? The rest of my computer is fine, it hasn't made any falls or anything like that. I've made sure not to flex it.

Hopefully someone has a similar problem, if not, off to Warranty land(Oh god it ends in July with no option for renewal:( ).

Thanks

Surrrrrre sounds like the MIC is enabled. Are you sure you muted it in the volume tool (SNDVOL32)?
