weak wireless signal on t41p

#1 Post by fartonmyear » Sat May 27, 2006 11:40 pm

i have a t41p and it's getting really weak signal. i have a x40 right next to it and it's getting better wireless signals. the t41p is using an atheros card and the x40 is using the 2100. is there anyway to get better signal strength?

Go adjust to the setting of the card to performance instead of power saving that might help.

in power save mode there are 3 options, maximum, normal and off. by setting it to maximum does that mean i have the weakest transmission and by off i have the strongest transmission?

Other issues that can effect wireless reception ... a channel that is close to another access point (AP) nearby (that is, you're both using channel 6) ... Ghz wireless phones in the house ... microwave oven operation ... or something related to your handle. ;)

I had a similar issue w/ a t41p getting very weak signal and a T42 right next to it getting full strenght. i played around with various setting and what solved it for me was on the router side. Change to Mix mode or 802.11b only, see if that makes a difference.
