t41p screen looks a little dark

#1 Post by fartonmyear » Mon May 29, 2006 12:59 am

i have a t41p next to a x40 and it is definitely darker than the x40. is there anyway to fix this? in the bios i set the screen as highest brightness. is it because it just has more real estate?

oh and also, why can't i control the overlay settings?

The Overlay settings are activated once you hook up to a TV via S-Video and start playing a video that has some overlay settings (just about all DVDs have this, for example). For everyday use of only the Thinkpad's LCD, they are grayed out.

As for the screen brightness, well...That varies amogst models even in the same series, much less one from one T4X to an X4X. I can't really tell because my friend runs his X40 at full brightness nearly all the time; he still gets great battery life anyway, so a smaller screen cranked up to max is going to suck less juice than a large screen cranked up to the "same" intensiy.

well...my t41p screen is not very bright either...high resolution tfts are usually darker than normal ones. i can only recommend to buy a 9cell batt and crank the brightness level up all the way (or nearly).

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_display

you can see here how same models came with different LCDs for example 1024x768 were made by Philips/LG and CMO
so thinking through same model even can have different specs
