How do you make "ALL" of the Recovery CDs on a T41

#1 Post by KillerStudio » Thu Jun 01, 2006 1:44 am

I installed the latest version of Thinkvantage Restore and Recovery and when I run Create Recovery Media...it will run and create the first disc..then it will tell me to label the disc...then everything disappears. Nothing prompts me for another disc....when I retry again...it will make the first disc again....and first disc only.....what am I doing wrong?

If I recall correctly, the T42 was the first T-series that can create its own set of "7" Product Recovery CD's... anyone can confirm this?

I can't comment on w0qj's remark, as I have the T42 and don't know about the T41 specifically.

On the T42, you have two options under Access IBM: (1) Create Recovery Discs, and (2) Create Rescue Media. Option 1 requires several CD's or one CD and one DVD. Option 2 uses only one CD. I think you want option 1, but are doing option 2. The terminology is similar, so you have to read it carefully.

If you upgraded Rescue and Recovery, under ThinkVantage you will see Create Recovery Media. When you open that, there are two options (at least on my T42): (1) Create Recovery Discs, and (2) Create Rescue Media.

Once you Create the Recovery Discs, you cannot make another set until you restore factory contents. You can Create Rescue Media as many times as you like. The Rescue Media CD boots into the Rescue and Recovery workspace for when you cannot get into it from your hard drive.

My IBM T41 just has not option to create any Recovery CDs. Luckily I placed an order with IBM within 30 days they happily sent me one set.

If somebody need it, I can copy one set for you. This is near Rhode Island though.
currently own X61S, T42, X31, Macbook Pro Unibody i5
