Mouse lagging, help!?

if I move the mouse pointer, either with ultranav/eraser heard/external mouse, the mouse pointer will freeze for a millisecond or two every second or so while dragging. this is getting very annoying!! i have no other programs running, and I ran both ad-aware and a virus scan. It did find one adware, but promptly removed it and I still have the problem! no viruses were found. I'm on a T42p GVU that I formatted and installed XP pro on. I installed all of the drivers also. reinstalling the ultranav drivers didnt help.

btw - it stops doing this for short periods of time, but it will then start up again -weird!!

any ideas?
