power management is disabled

#1 Post by vladnel » Fri Jun 02, 2006 12:07 am

Hello everyone,
I have a strange minor (I hope) problem at my T41 laptop. When I choose the Battery Information popup menu item at Battery MaxiMiser tray icon, the following error message comes up: Cannot run because the power management is disabled. I have checked it in BIOS and all power settings look alright there. And I have all the latest drivers installed. Where else can Power Management be disabled?
Thanks

Never seen this myself. Advanced Settings tab of the Power Options control panel?
2668-75U T43, 2GB RAM, 2nd hand NMB kybd, Dock II, spare Mini-Dock, and spare Port Replicators. Wacom BT tablet. Ultrabay 2nd HDD.
2672-KBU X32, 1.5GB RAM, 7200 rpm TravelStar HDD.

David,
Thanks for your response.
I also have never met this problem before. I see nothing in Power Options that could help. I would suppose that this is a result of the latest BIOS upgrade, but then there would be other people having the same problem

Open Device Manager and see if you see any yellow exclaimation marks or red X's. Click on View > Show hidden devices. Does you see any yellow exclaimation marks or red X's?

Under System Devices do you see ThinkPad PM Device or IBM PM Device? How many ACPI devices do you show?

thank you. there was a yellow exclamation mark on PMEM device in Hidden Devices. I have uninstalled it and also re-installed Battery Maximiser. It's got to work ok now
