T42 Has a Dead keyboard this AM. Any ideas?

#1 Post by hailwood1965 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:26 am

I fired up my T42 this morning and suddenly the space bar and return key do not work at all. Neither does the delete key. Really bad timing as I have an important business meeting this weekend.

Might anyone have any ideas on how to resurrect this machine? I didn't change any settings and it didn't suffer any damage.

Appreciate any help.

For a quick fix, buy a USB keyboard and plug it in (you should be able to find an inexpensive one at your local computer or discount store). That should get you through the weekend.

You also can assign the keys to other, less important ones (like the right Alt and Ctrl key).

IBM TP T41p (1.7G/1GB/100GB-7k100/DVD-CDRW/SXGA+/BT)
IBM TP T22 (900/512/40/DVD/CDRW/14")
IBM TP A31 (1.8GHz/512MB/40GB/DVD-CDRW/15" SXGA)
