Access connections doesn't recognize different ports (T42)

#1 Post by bmoon » Fri Jun 02, 2006 9:43 am

What a great site! I've been reading through the lengthy posts on upgrading Access Connections, but didn't see this problem mentioned. I recently upgraded everything (Access connections, wireless drivers, CMOS, and practically everything in the suggested upgrade list). It fixed my problems connecting to my different wireless networks.

The problem I have is that Access Connections (v4.12) cannot tell the difference between my home LAN and office LAN locations. Previously, it recognized and selected the correct location, whether I plugged in at home or at the office. Now, if I leave the office and plug in at home, it keeps the Office location. I have to manually switch locations to get the correct printer and VPN.

When I look at the saved ports, I only have one. If I delete the saved port while at home, it will prompt me to save the port as part of the Home location. But when I connect at the office, it still thinks it's the same port. It no longer prompts me that it found a new location (though I have it set to do so). I have a different IP address (and I assume a different MAC address) at both places.

I've tried recreating the locations, but the problem persists. Can anyone suggest what's going on?

Thanks,
Bob

This HAS been mentioned ad nauseam in one of the Access Connections threads. I've rolled back to 3.82 on my work lappie due to this. AC 4.12 will remember my MAC addresses at home and work fine, then start playing the shell game reassociating them with the wrong profile. Very bad bug. Makes the core function of "auto switching profiles" broken. Game over, IBM, insert coin.
