Does my T43 with it's Intel graphic chipset support DVI?

#1 Post by nickmessick » Fri Jun 02, 2006 6:20 pm

I upgraded my T42 with the ATI x300 Mobility Radeon chipset to a T43 with the Intel 915GM chipset. I also have a minidock.

I cannot get the new laptop to reconize the monitor plugged into the DVI connector on my minidock. I enjoyed having two 19" Thinkvision monitors and I really can't believe that I could upgrade my laptop and get something that is "downgraded" in the graphics dept. Am I missing something?

The model is: 1872Y2N

You say you upgraded. Do you mean you replaced the system board, or you bought a newer ThinkPad?

If you replace the system board, did you replace the video adapter driver? You should uninstall any ATI software in Add or Remove programs, then reboot. Follow the instructions in the text file on the following page for installing the Intel video driver.

Video driver (Intel 900 - 910GML/915GM) for Windows 2000/XP - ThinkPad R52 (18xx), T43 (18xx), X41, X41 Tablet, Z60m, Z60t

Caveat: I do not have the Intel video adapter, so I do not know it's capabilities.

Actually, I just went to Lenovo website and found out that my particular model doen not support DVI.

I got a whole new laptop from work. Looks like the Intel chipsets don't have DVI.

Is it possible to replace the system board? How much might that cost?
