T41p..........dead pixels !

#1 Post by dd » Fri Aug 06, 2004 12:52 pm

Hi

Received my t41p today!

I havent been able to connect to the internet(......I usually have the cable modem lead connected so that it detects automatically).

Anyway............I have at least 2 dead pixles (Will check entirely once I can connect to the net)

What is the return policy regarding dead pixels?

Will they send me a new machine, or replace this screen?

Thanks

dd

BTW: Any help on connecting to web would be nice (I have posted in in "Windows" section..........wizard doesnt help me!

If you bought it direct from IBM, you can call them and request a return or exchange for another unit. They do not replace screens for just 2 dead pixels.

Email Bill regarding the bad pixels.

In regards to connecting to the internet, please post your configuration (i.e. are you using a router? are you trying to connect to the cable modem or router via ethernet or via wireless? what cable provider are you using?)

Hi

Ethernet via BTL broadband modem connection 600k

I'm just plugging the lead from desktop(NIC card) to the laptop!

Should this work?

Did you install the software that came with the cable modem?

If it doesn't work straight out of the box, try running the network connection wizard.

Is the modem USB? ie how is your Desktop connected to the modem? Are you using a crossover cable or a straight through cable? If you use a router to connect each computer to the modem then straight-through is ok BUT if you are connecting computer to computer, then crossover is required...

GIve us some more info...

Dead pixels on my T42 as well

#9 Post by vijeshmehta » Fri Aug 06, 2004 9:38 pm

I just got my T42 - 15" and had a big spot in the middle where all the pixels are grey - very annoying to look at.

Hopefully IBM will take care of it quickly - I don't like to wait another few weeks.
