software installer

#1 Post by jdp1955 » Wed Jun 07, 2006 9:33 pm

New T43p laptop which works perfectly. When I run software installer, it looks like there is new software for many of the programs. Does anyone recommended downloading all upgrades? Would like to know all opinions before I screw up a great machine. Thanks, Jim P.

Update only the software you are using and create a system restore point before you start.

IBM TP T41p (1.7G/1GB/100GB-7k100/DVD-CDRW/SXGA+/BT)
IBM TP T22 (900/512/40/DVD/CDRW/14")
IBM TP A31 (1.8GHz/512MB/40GB/DVD-CDRW/15" SXGA)

Orevin has good advice. Additionally I think it is better to only update a few things at a time. Set a system restore point before each update. If you run into problems later, It will be easier to fix that way. Some users who have used the shotgun approach have run into problems.

I would recommend doing the wireless driver update by itself, as this is the update that is often most troublesome. Same thing with Access Connections.
