DVD/CDRW + Nero 5.5

#1 Post by andrzejpw » Sat Aug 07, 2004 12:56 am

Quite simply, nero 5.5 doesn't recognize my dvd/cdrw combo drive in my T42. Is there any way to make it see it?

I had a similar problem. Check to see if the device driver is OK (Control Panel / System / Hardware /Device Manager). In my case, the driver was somehow damaged, and the device showed up with a question mark.

IBM Tech Support had me fix the driver by un-installing, then re-installing the IBM RecordNow software. I had uninstalled that software, since I wanted to use Nero.

After a while, I had problems where my CD-RW drive took up to 90 seconds before it was recognized. The cure for this problem was to un-install the IBM DLA software (Drive Letter Access).

A friend had a similar problem once - turned out he was trying to load a copy of Nero that had been bundled with another drive - this shouldn't happen, of course, if you bought it legit..

hah, I should have posted last night when I figured out the problem. You're exactly right, my copy of Nero 5 was bundled with my Teac burner that I purchased so many moons ago. All is well now.
