#1 Post by mtbiac » Sat Aug 07, 2004 10:30 am

I did a restore to factory windows setup (with all 7 CDs) alittle while ago, but now the computer keeps booting into the rescue and recovery console!! I've tried everything and cant get freaking windows to boot. No CD in the drive, I've tried playing around in the bios, nothing works

HELP!!!!

If you have a ntfs formatted disk, you can boot with a regular XP CD into the recovery console (repair mode) and fix it with "fixmbr" and "fixboot". After that uninstall Rescue and Recovery and install it again.

well i clicked "restore factory setup" again and now it seems to be working. It booted into windows and is currently installing applications. Its been doing this for like 35min now, is that normal? thats not including time spend restoring in console...

thanks

Yep, that's normal. Installing apps and drivers take a while. There will be at least 2 rebootings.

yes, that's normal. For my T40p a full system recovery takes about 1 hour.
