Hilarious FAN noise in my room. What is it?

#1 Post by T23_Owner » Sat Aug 07, 2004 11:42 am

I was sitting in my office at home reading this forum on my T42p when suddenly I heard this fan kick in and start whistling very loudly. I mean it sounds like a hotel hair dryer. Turns out it was the Dell Latituded notebook behind me that my wife brought home from work. Thats her work computer.

The thing is still blowing full blast. I called my wife in just a minute ago asking her if that was supposed to do that and she said, YEP. It does that all the time. I said to her "hey, listen to my computer" she leaned over to hear and then giggled and smacked my arm for making joke. There is no noise.

I just looked at the processes and it was in the middle of a crash and something was taking up 100% processer utilization. I had to turn it off.

Just thought that was funny.

Yeah, really do count.

I'm sitting here listening to my girlfriend's Apple IBook going at a blazing 800MHZ howling like a hair dryer. It does turn off occasionally but it turns on while she's word processing/browsing the internet/watching a DVD.

It's also a lot louder than mine going at 2.0GHZ for hours rendering 3D.
