hi guys,
ive got this T42 Dothan 735 with 1.7GHz and id like to know what are the best voltage values including saftey marings??
anyone has the same Dothan and uses the NHC at the same time?
id be thankfull for any tips.
should i change the ATI 7500 settings too or reducing CPU voltage is enough?

Hey hamoudi, I've got exactly the same CPU as you (although a different GPU: ATI 9600). I've been using CHC/NHC for over a year without a crash with the following settings (running some fairly intense linguistic software):
6x .700V
8x .748V
10x .796V
12x .828V
14x .892V
17x 1.020V
I then "enable custom dynamic switching" as follows (for both AC and Battery):
6x @ 20%
17x @ 70%
For what it's worth, I've set the ATI clock control to 205.00MHz/205.00MHz. It's lower than what it was (320/210), but to be honest this setting is mostly black magic to me
The payoff? A MUCH cooler machine--it rarely gets above 45C! Let me know if you need more input; I'd be happy to help.

thanks paul for the help u gave.....
i reduced the CPU voltage values as u said and it really did a great job. before i always had this 55-57 degree with fan always on, but now i got it in the 38-46 intervall.( still have to try it while watch videos)
i didnt get u when u said the ATI clock is like a black magic. u mean its not worth it? or does it play a role if i reduced the clock a tiny bit? do u recommend underclocking the ATI 7500 ??

I referred to it as black magic because I really don't understand what's going on with it . . . It may very well be worth it, but I'd like to understand why there are two parameters, what each of them do, and how 'low' you can go before causing problems. I don't 'game' but I do edit digital photos--does that mean I should leave the ATI clock alone? or is it OK to take it down for still images (e.g., pictures)? and would it be detrimental to take it down for 'moving' images (e.g., games/videos)? my T42 isnt goin now above 41 degree! its awesome..... i tried to underclock the ATI from 260MHz/183MHz to 210MHz/143MHz but i didnt notice anything at all ..... temp is still constant at 40 now and it didnt drop.
i dnt know if this tool contributes much to those with normal laptop-use. mabye its when u r doin some 3D stuff on it? i really dnt know.
i guess ill turn it back to the default values with this tool. low voltage + enabling dynamic switch is actually enough.
man i got 15-16 degrees difference after using the NHC tool!! its really cool!
i wanted to use the TPFC with the NHC and i read that if u adjust the NHC not to read the temp there wont be any conflicts! i did so and everything was ok until i restored the NHC from system tray.....so apparently if u are playing with the NHC(even without reading temp!) the TPFC starts reporting unability to read temps and conflict with other progs.
my T42´s fan should be off now coz its only 39 degree! but its slightly working! although it only goes on when reaching 47 degree! weird IBM BIOS!!!
