Hard Disk in Ultrabay Slim Adapter not seen by computer

#1 Post by al7kz » Fri Jun 16, 2006 11:27 pm

Hi all,

I have a new T42 and new Ultrabay Slim HDD adapter but none of the drives I have tried are seen by the computer either in BIOS or in Disk Manager. Is there something I need to do to activate the adapter? Thanks in advance, Joe

I have a T42 with the same adapter, and I didn't have to do anything extra.

Is your new hard drive partitioned and formatted? Even if it is not, I would still think you could see it in the BIOS.

Have you tried booting up with both drives in the system? If not, give that a try.

Yes the drive is partitioned and formatted and I tried booting with both drives in. Looks like the motherboard is bad. Thanks for the replies. Edit: am I right in thinking that any drive should work in this adapter, that the drive doesn't have to be on a bios "white-list"?

Yes I've already checked that via control panel > admin tools > disk management. The drive isn't shown. Thanks

Check you didn't deactivate secondary channelon both your IDE controllers.
I don't think so but would still be something to try ...

Merci bien. Activated second channel in thinkpad configuration - still no joy. Support is sending me a new adapter.
