Win XP with SP2 clean installation

#1 Post by Stingray72 » Sun Aug 08, 2004 2:34 pm

I'm planning on slipstreaming SP2 with the i386 folder on my c:\ drive of my thinkpad and then perform a clean installation after creating a bootable cd. I got 1 question though.. do i need to install the intel chipset driver or is it included in SP2??

Thanks..

Im trying to do something similar,
but would like to know how to convert the files on my hard disk to iso bootable format to burn to cd? ( have copied all the I386 files and replaced them from an XPP cd)

anybody?

It's been pretty heavily tested, esp in the RC and Beta versions.

Microsoft has released this under pressure (very, very late). I tested RC1 and RC2, and it still needs work. I am going to put it on a separate drive as soon as it is "production" and try to give it a fair go. I may have a different view in a week or so.

It really does not break much.

The benifits of the security updates probably out weigh the down side of break a few legacy apps.

I now have the production download, and last week Symantec sent me upgrade instructions for Client Security 2. I imaged the drive, updated the drivers, installed SP2 production, then installed Client Security 2 Corporate. It all seems to work. Clearly Microsoft made a number of changes after RC2. ... JDHurst
