New T43 Owner

#1 Post by marktis » Sat Jun 17, 2006 2:13 am

First, this site has been a very valueable reference before, during and after my purchase. Many thanks to you posters.

To make a long story short, I'm now apporaching 30 days ownership of a T43 2686-DGU, upgraded to 1GB. So far, I must say that I'm pleased, very pleased.

I knew at the time I wasn't buying a pimped out T60, or even a pimped T43 for that matter. I was targeting a durable work laptop (software development) and reasonable performance at a reasonable price. I was aiming for 'good enough'.

I've had a long list of laptops over the years, most recently a Dell C610. This is my first Thinkpad, but likely not my last. I love it. The ThinkLight is an amazing feature.

Thanks to the people who post in these fourms I managed to upgrade to include Bluetooth. It cost me somewhere around 130 CDN for the modem replacement card, clear plates and a screw kit. To my suprize, it arrived the very next day via Purolator.

Cost was a factor in my case. And again, thanks to someone on this fourm I found out about the visaperks website. For those that don't know, if you use your Visa card through their website to purchase Lenovo products you can receive up to 20% off.

It took between 3 and 4 weeks from order to delivery (ON, Canada).

Again, what a great resource these fourms are.

Thanks, keep up the good work!

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

Glad you enjoy your Thinkpad T43 so well; plan on it being around for a *long* time to come. Thank you very much for sharing your experiences and thoughts about the forums as a useful resource to all of whom participate and use Thinkpads. :D

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
