ultrabay HD for T42

#1 Post by dmdsoftware » Sat Jun 17, 2006 12:50 pm

I was looking at the possibility of adding a second hard drive to my T42. I have some concerns with battery performance if I do. I want to had a 40GB 5400rpm drive. Does anyone have any numbers to how this will impact battery performance?

Well, I added a 60GB 7200RPM HDD into my T43 and use it on a day to day basis. If you throttle both HDDs correctly, they won't impact battery life that much. The most I can estimate is that the 2nd HDD takes up, maybe, 10 minutes of standard operating time/loading on the battery tops. If you apply power management to it, it will be less.

How are you planning to use the 2nd HDD? Dual boot? Storage? Swap/Hi-throughput storage?

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
