hi guys,
i might be posting a lot of ques but thats only coz im new to the TP!
a couple of days ago i opened my TP to check the short fan, i only unscrewed the keyboard( just to check). when i unscrewed the fan it turned to me it wasnt attached to the ground as pple say(fan body loose). I was able to move the whole fan body up and down( no force applied, just screws r off), so apparently it wasnt attached to the CPU through thermal grease.
should the fan body be stuck to the ground/CPU? or is it normal? im thinkin now that maybe the thermal grease in there isnt that good anymore and im thinkin to remove the old one and apply some AS 5! maybe this could help cooling down my CPU better.
any tips?
thermal grease affects the CPU cooling and thus fan on/off?

It should have been connecting with thermal paste; should the fan/heatsink assembly have come off with the original thermal compound on it, I would recommend replacing it with a *thin* layer of AS5 if you feel up to it. In either case, it should have been physically connected to the CPU.

Re: thermal grease affects the CPU cooling and thus fan on/o
Thermal grease isn't glue, so your fan assembly will move up and down when you remove the screws. ALWAYS put it back using thermal grease. Go to Radio Shack and buy a $2.00 tube of heat sink grease - it will work fine (don't use too much or it gets messy).hamoudi wrote:hi guys,
