Dual monitors and dock
Dual monitors and dock
I am trying to set up dual monitors using an external display connected via the dock and the thinkpad's internal LCD (SXGA+).
I would like to do the following:
1. Make the External display be the primary screen.
2. I would like the external display become the primary screen when the computer is placed in the dock, and then the internal LCD become the primary screen when not docked.
I searched and am not able to find any answers.

This is how I usually run my setup when I'm at school. I'm not sure the stock video drivers can do it, so you should get the omega drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/)
Once you have that installed, make sure everything is plugged in and the laptop is open then go to Display Properties -> Settings tab -> advanced -> Displays tab and press the little blue 1 button under Panel with the picture of a laptop.
Windows handles screen switching ok, but if you want more control I'd recommend Ultramon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/)

In the Display Properties Settings tab, click Advanced ( button), even teh ATI drivers have a "Displays" tab which allows you to determine which monitor is the primary. Little [1][2] buttons for each display ... see them?
I do this all the time on my T41 with ATI drivers (though I run Omega drivers on my own T43).
