Yeah, I mean, the computer as a whole is still great and I'm not dissapointed in my selection of IBM at all..but its kind of like, or actually is, constructive criticism.
Plus if there's a remote chance of being a fix to any problem I see, small or huge, then its worth discussing it for me and for others that have the same problem/discomfort.

Hopefully my T42 will be OK...
Will be getting mine this coming Tuesday.
Work provided a Toshiba Tecra M2 but it's of substandard spec (slow HD, small RAM, slow CPU).
Let me tell you though:
The Toshiba has AMAZING fit and finish. No creaks, magnesium top AND bottom, solid throughout.
To configure a decent Tecra though costs even more than the IBM...

It arrived and it's beautifully built
Just got my 2373H6U.
The build is great, none if the issues people complained about but:
1. The keyboard is nowhere near as nice as it used to be in old IBMs
2. The bottom is a tad more flexible than a Tecra (i.e. you life one corner and there is noticeable flex). There are engineering techniques to reduce this without really adding much cost, but maybe because it's so thin they did all they could.
Added 2GB of RAM and it goes pretty nicely. The IBM utils are pretty heavy though, with less than 1GB it's nowhere near fast.
I liked how easy it was to remove the keyboard and add the RAM. The keyboard is a major structural enhancing part, BTW - 4 screws go through the case and hold it in place and it's a metal plate with the keys on top.
