Model Numbers Needed for T41 and t42

#1 Post by KillerStudio » Fri Jun 23, 2006 12:30 pm

I have a couple of machines that have been upgraded and I was hoping someone here can help me out.

Is there a list somewhere that shows what model number matches a t4x with its hardware?

The two machines I am trying to find model numbers for are:

T42 - 1.8 Dothan w/ 9000 Radeon 32mb , Bluetooth, 80gb 5400, 2gb memory, SXGA 1400x1050 lcd, cdrw/dvd, 802.11b/g wireless (atheros)...what model number would this be? Or something close?

other is a T41 - 1.6 Banias w/ 9000 Radeon 32mb, 60gb 5400, 1gb memory, XGA 1024x768 lcd, cdrw/dvd, 802.11b Intel 2100...what model number would this be? Or something close?

Hopefully someone can help me out....

If you have physical access to your machines, you can boot into BIOS and it will tell you what model# it is...

But the model in the bios reflects the older setup before they were upgraded. I want to update the model number to reflect the hardware changes.

I wish there is a way to tell this, because I also want to find out the model number that uses my current motherboard. I have a X40 but the I bought a X41/X41T motherboard.
currently own X61S, T42, X31, Macbook Pro Unibody i5

I think what you need is the ENTIRE serial number so you can enter it in the BIOS.
X32/2.0GHZ/2GB/ENGENIUS EMP-8602+S 600mw mini pci/WD 250GB
X60/1.83GHZ/2GB/Atheros/7K100

If you want the information desperately enough, you can find it by using the IBM/Levono support web site, starting from here.

Select "Thinkpad" in the PC Product box, then select the base model, in the "Family" box. The you can work through all the "Type" and "Model" box combinations, displaying each one, to find one which matches your actual configuration.

Cheers,

Bill
