Network problems (both wired and wireless down)

#1 Post by tolovan » Fri Jul 07, 2006 6:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I installed the much dreaded latest updates using software installer yesterday without checking if anyone had problems here with the new AC and network drivers. And voila, both my networks are down. It's not just Fn+F5 not working, *both* wireless and wired connections don't work anymore.

I uninstalled AC as instructed here, but I cannot uninstall any of my network drivers (they freeze during uninstall). I can use my wired connection in safe mode (didn't try wireless since I need to setup new profiles using Windows instead of AC), so I'm guessing something ThinkVantage related is the problem.

Did anyone have this problem?

By the way my current hardware and driver sets are:

Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile (driver ver. 7.2.17.101)
Atheros 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter (driver ver. 4.1.102.147)

Any help is appretiated

Thanks for pointing that out Bill. It worked. Now both networks are up. Unchecking "Enable automatic wireless LAN control" in Global Settings of AC fixed Fn+F5 problem is well. So all systems are good to go.

I'm kind of glad that TimC accidentally got his wired connection messed up as well which prompted this fix ;)
