Small "mark" on my LCD

#1 Post by Navck » Fri Jul 07, 2006 8:27 pm

I've noticed lately that there was a spot on my LCD that I clean off and can be only noticed when its viewed within 25 degrees on my T43. For some reason, it looks like dust, but wiping it with water and microfiber doesn't help. Anyone else have this problem, and are here any fixes, or should I just call in for warranty?

What does it look like? Bright spot? Diffuse?

For some reason, it resembles a really heavy "coat" of dust in a line shape, but wiping it hasn't done anything to remove it. (So I would say it looks darker)

Line on Screen

#4 Post by rosemarycane » Sat Jul 08, 2006 1:22 am

I believe I have the same line you are talking about. I think it comes from the space bar. Above that, I have a little dot from the track point. If I use LCD screen wipes, it seems to get rid of it.

Hope this helps!

Mine appears to be at the spot of where the palmrest/trackpad would be.

That area of the LCD seams to be prone to flexing. My TP has permanent damage from the spacebar on the LCD. The other keys in that row have also left permanent but not as obvious marks on the LCD as well. Bad thing is my TP is less than 6 months old.

Strange....I have never seen the spacebar do this on my T43 and it is almost 6 months old.

Also, are we sure this is the same spot that Navck is talking about?
The palmrest/trackpad is a bit further down than the spacebar...it could be that some crumb or the like got in between that and the screen and started to abrade them.

you mean the LCD could damage because of the abrade by the spacebar?
bad news, i havenot noticed that.
But if it is real, the keyboard design must be exist problems, why IBM allow it?

Well, they're shipping a box sometime this week and they'll have someone look it at and see if its going to be replaced or not...

And no, it is NOT the spacebar, this spot appears at the same height as the touchpad is at .
