my bios splash
Here's the bios splash screen I just made in case anyone's interested. I applied it to my t42 along with the latest bios and it looks good.
the black bar at the bottom is so the bootup text doesnt appear with an ugly black border around it

Change the BIOS bootsplash screen.
This is a guide about how to change the BIOS bootsplash screen.
But do it at your own risk.

I followed this guide to make a boot screen similar to yours just for my IBM X41.
But when I boot up it shows the "standard" Intel Inside Centrino logo which is with a black background. It doesn't show the "new" logo which is in my bmp-file.

I tried to check in bios if it was possible to disabled that logo but it's not.
What should I do about it? Make a bootscreen with a black background?

I ended up using a black background instead.
Now my bios screen looks like this:

The "Golden Lady" in the corner is something you should think too much about. just a little thing we have in my study group
I think it is quite nice to have my name stated at bootup since then... if anybody runs with it and finds out it is useless an honest soul might find it and also just try to turn it on and see that it can't be used for anything without the passwords and will hopefully contact me. I'm not planning to get it stolen though, but anyways

Hey, I like the black background too! I originally just wanted my name on the bios screen but I couldn't find the original screen to modify so I made my own. I made it white just for a change.I ended up using a black background instead.
Did you clean up some of the pixels around the red dot on the I? I don't see them in your pictures. I spent about half an hour cleaning up the logos pixel by pixel since the original logos weren't 16 colors and after resizing and resampling, some artifacts were introduced. Some of my fixing is visible in the centrino logo. I turned out good enough though, since you only see it for a few seconds anyways
As for the centrino logo, on mine if you put a custom boot screen no logo appears. I think I read somewhere that for certain notebooks, the bios will automatically overlay the intel logo.

Heh I had your white picture to mess around with and I wanted to make the text white and background black instead and keep the red dot and also keep the blue IBM logo.
I am usually not playing around with pictures and editing so it wasn't worth wasting my time in paint or looking for a piece of software which made it easier. I simple wrote to a friend who is usually playing around with such stuff and asked if he cared to fix it for me
Update: Here is my bmp-file which you can play around with:
http://mhca.homepage.dk/logo_boot.bmp (I will probably delete it after some weeks due to little space on the homepage).
If you have trouble writing your name neatly with black background I suggest you just use white text by using black text in paint on white background and then invert the colours.
