New T43 2668-97G battery life problem ?

#1 Post by imulic » Tue Jul 11, 2006 4:10 am

7 days ago I bought new T43 (2668-97G)...

http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/products. ... enDocument

When I start using it....

Battery is going off after about 2 hours... ?!?!

I got a battery replacement yesterday and the same time of battery life?

In IBM description of this model particulary I got information about battery life is min: 3.4hrs ?

The scenario of using:

Programming, LCD level 4/7, no CD driver using ... Default BIOS and POwer managment settings?

Can somebody tell me what is the battery life on this model...

Maybe the model problem?

Suggestions?

Is the CPU running at full speed?

My parent's T42 (1½-2 years old) is running 2:45 when LCD at 0 or 1 and CPU speed throttled to low or lowest.

Of course the battery isn't all fresh but if you have a lot more power on your LCD and also CPU running full speed that might be the reason...

It is not a problem.

It is not a problem.

The battery life is subject to a number of things, and varies. The IBM/lenovo official estimate is probably based on the least application running, for example, reading a document at the lowest LCD level. Programming and LCD level 4/7 obviously exceed the base line.

Try to use the default power management scheme of Maximum battery life . You will be satisfied by the battery life. Otherwise, try to connect the PSU when you are working.

it's normal. my T43 batter can only insist 2hours too.
the batter life that IBM told to you is in a perfect state, such as low LCD light, low cpu speed, not too many running programs……

Are you recompiling big programs? That can push cpu usage up and decrease battery life.

Difference in battery life time from my model A31 (2652-M5G) from 2001 (same display 1400x1050, 1.8 Pentium m)year and this T43 (2668-97G) from 2006 with 6cell battery are about the same?!

Look 2 hours is quite a short time ?!

Look at this document :

T43 is not known for great battery life due to the Sonoma platform.

In document I posted for T43 2668-92U battery life (6cell) is 3:29 hours ~ as in specification, I used the almos same criteria as IBM in testing 4/7, display default powemanagement settings...
