Do LCDs suffer from burn-in issues?

Hey all,
I was just wondering if LCDs suffer from burn-in... I'd like to just leave my screens (T42 and Dell 2001FP) on, but I'm afraid of damaging it...

No, they shouldn't. An LCD is really just a fluorescent bulb behind a bunch of things that block certain colors.

No burn in but I would suggest that you set up your TP to have the backlight turn off after a selected time period to same on the backlight. These can burn out though they have got much longer lives than they used to.

Just to follow-up on what Greg said... although LCD backlights have longer MTBF than they used to, they still don't last as long as traditional CRTs. In the BIOS you can set the screen to automatically blank out, which isn't the same as a screen saver. It actually powers off the backlight, which is what I prefer. I haven't owned a notebook yet that had the backlight die before I got rid of it. However, backlights also tend to lose their brightness/intensity over a long period of time, so any steps you can take to maximize brightness/life of the backlight over the course of owning the notebook is a good idea.

While you are adjusting the time to have your backlight turn off, you might as well adjust when the hard drive spins down too.

I really like the suspend funtion on my 2373KXU as it wakes up in just seconds after hitting a button. You can leave in suspend for days if needed.

My biggest complaint is how lok my T42p takes to establish a connection with my Cisco Aironet access point. Seems like for ever. BUT can re-establish that connection in seconds from suspend.
