Clean the outside with windex (or 409 if it's really filthy). This inside is more contentious. I use windex on my screen but a lot of people don't recommend that. The shiny keys can be greasy fingers but usually it's just wear on the matt finish.

Since IBM suggests a 50/50 mix of water/alcohol, I purchased a bottle of spray cleaner for glasses at Sears. It is isoproponal / water mix. It also comes ith a micro-fiber cloth
Works great on the LCD, and the case and keyboard.

I second that. Lens (glasses or camera) cleaner and microfiber cloth work wonders.

Great stuff for all your thinkpads cleaning needs.
Also something else that works awesome on the outside and keyboard palmrest etc... is Pledge for electronics. You can pick this up at office depot, officemax so on.

I wish people would read our FAQ.

From the FAQ:

18) What is the best way to clean my ThinkPad’s LCD? What about the case? Can I just use Windex and a paper towel?

Windex, napkin, and paper towel are big no-no’s. Use a lint-free/micro-fiber cloth and screen cleaning fluid (which is a mix of water and Ethanol). Never spray the cleaner directly onto the screen, always spray it onto the cloth first. You can use the same cleaner for the case, or just a slightly watered cloth. These cleaning supplies are available at Office Depot, Staples and other office/computer supply stores.

Regards,
G-Man

i just did the half alcohol/water thing and used that on my screen using a micofiber cloth.. worked great.

for the case i used a paper towel with windex on it, and that worked great too.

my dad just cleaned his t23 the same way.

No one's mentioned that it's probably a good idea to turn your computer off when you're cleaning it, in case something drips somewhere it's not supposed to.

uhhhhhhh....windex is not good for LCD screens...not good at all.

I use kensington screen cleaner with their lint-free wipes (mom got them from her office--can't complain about free stuff). For the keyboard/case, I just wipe it down w/whatever is available...rubbing alcohol or 409 or whatever. All of those things will remove oil & leave my thinkpad looking brand new.
