wireless problem coming out of hibernation

i did a search on these forums and found some people had the same or similar problem, but no one had a definitive answer as to how to solve the problem, so i guess i'll repost the issue.

my t42 (2378-dxu) has the 2200bg wireless card, which works just fine and dandy when powering on from normal boot up. however, after going into hibernation for a few hours, i cannot connect to the internet at all. i can get a 100% signal from the wireless router, but firefox/IE tell me that i cannot connect to the internet. Sometimes, after coming out of hibernation, I can connect to the internet, but for no more than a few minutes at a time. THen I have to renew the IP again, usually manually from a command prompt as using AC to reconnect does not work. (it says connecting was successful, but web pages still do not load.) AC as well as Windows say everything is fine, but obviously, they're both lying =).

I have WinXP Pro SP1, 2200bg driver 9.0.1.21 and AC 3.71. I have had this problem, no matter what version of AC and driver I used prior to these versions.

I have tried powering off the card before hibernating as well as manually releasing the ip address and then powering off the card before hibernating to no avail.

The laptop is almost 2 years old (has it been that long already?!) and I have never really solved this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

may I ask you 1 thing: why on earth use win xp sp1 ?

I have WinXP Pro SP1, 2200bg driver 9.0.1.21 and AC 3.71. I have had this problem, no matter what version of AC and driver I used prior to these versions.

But there have been many versions since those versions.

2200bg is currently 9.0.4.8 and AC is currently 4.12 .
