The thing is I've got this machine for almost 1 year till now, the LCD has been fine, no dead pixel at all, until yesterday. It just appeared suddenly. How could this be? Isn't it supposed to be that the dead pixel should already be there when I just purchased the machine? And if not, could there be more and more dead pixels later afterwards?

Dead pixel after some usage
Okay, this is bothering. SXGA+ LCD of my T43 got a dead pixel yesterday... Guess it's not software issue, as it's already on the splashscreen there when I restart the machine.

Yea, I knew their dead pixels policy and I don't expect to change the machine. I just wonder how come this dead pixel is appearing NOW.Kyocera wrote:Thinker, click on the faq's in my sig and check "I see dead pixel's" #22 .
Too bad it can happen, and happen on mine...sugo wrote:It's not common to get dead pixels after some time but I suppose it can happen.
I know it's common that the dead pixel will probably appear after some hours/days usage, but not a year.
And it seems some abuse will also probably cause dead pixels, but I think I've been treating mine well; no games, no heavy usage stuff running either, just programming, surfing etc...

Don't worry, but if it bothers too much you can buy another lcd for 250usd on ebay.

Man, sorry about that, I was actually trying to get you to a link for a program you can run to try and clear up dead/stuck pixels, i'll see where it is.

Such programs only clear up stuck pixels, not truly dead ones. However, a really tenacious stuck pixel is very similar, in terms of how it resists changing back, to a dead pixel.sugo wrote:Is there such a program? I have seen stuck pixels hang around from around the boot-up screen and make it into the OS; a dead pixel will always do that.
Although the chances are pretty good that this is a stuck pixel since it appeared suddenly one day after 1 year of an LCD that didn't have anything like that before.
Try the PSP video and other dead pixel video links, especially the ones that Kyocera provided; run them in a loop on top of the stuck pixel, minimizing the area of coverage of the video to the surrounding pixels. Let the video run that way for an hour or so. Most stuck pixels tend to be a "lighter" color, e.g. grey, whereas most dead pixels tend to be a very bright, vivid, primary color , e.g. Red, Blue, or Green always or On(White)/Off(Black).
If that doesn't work; then it is very likely that you have an actual dead pixel that popped up suddenly.

Thanks so much for help, guys.
I'm gonna run the PSP video one, though I think it's more like a dead pixel since it renders a primary color (green). Yea, this sudden dead pixel stuff seems seldom happen, sad but true, it happend on me.
Anyways, keep the finger crossed & thanks again, buddies.
