1680x1050 DVI on T42

#1 Post by fbrdphreak » Sat Jul 15, 2006 5:13 pm

So I've been searching, but I can't get a clear answer.

I need to buy a docking station for my T42. Will the Mini Dock support 1680x1050 through DVI? This is the one in question:

Thanks all

Hi, yes it will, but you will need to install custom display drivers such as Omega drivers, from www.omegadrivers.net , i think they are very stable drivers, never had any problem with 5.8 and upwards.
Also see http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... throughput for more information :)

I have great success with Omega Catalyst 6.2. It gives many external resolution support including 1680x1050 and 1920x1080.

Awesome people, I figured I would need updated software & drivers. Just wanted official confirmation before I buy this. Thanks again

Depends on your video card

I have two of the Mini Docks (P/N 287810U)- one for work, and one at home. The one at work powers a Dell 18" LCD via DVI @ 1280x1024 and the one at home powers a Dell 2407FPW (24" widescreen) via DVI @ 1600x1920. Both are while simultaneously powering the ThinkPad's LCD @ 1600x1200.

Of course, I have a T42p w/ 128MB of VRAM. I didn't install any Omega Drivers or do any voodoo. Just made sure my display drivers were up to date (8.133.2-050525a-024243C IBM) and my Presentation Director is current (2.53).

Works beautifully. For pics BEFORE the dock, check out http://pramit.nairi.net/photos/misc/

Did you mean 1920x1200?

The dell 2407FPW in your photos looks beautiful.

Yup... oops. However the display does rotate, so I can technically still do 1600x1920. :D

You mean 1200x1920, of course, not 1600x1920.
