Thinkpad lab won't solve error 2010?

#1 Post by hans_fh » Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:27 am

I just took look at a blog which is hosted by a Chinese Thinkpad engineer. I have quoted his diary and translated it to English:

"To safeguard the communication stability between hard disk and chipset, the laptop will warn users when an un-acknowledged hard disc is installed until the users realize the risky situition and remove that device from their computer (New BIOS allows users to skip that error by pressing ESC). Engineers in lab won't experience any technical difficulty in developing a new firmware for hard disks. However, they should take the responsiblity to guarantee the product quality and realiblity. In this situition, Thinkpad lab in Japan will not let this error disappear completely when this risky circumstance occurs".

Does it mean the problem 2010 cannot be solved by Lenovo forever?

There's nothing to "solve." It's not an error it's a feature. (albeit an annoying one)

The 2010 error will not ever be removed on systems with the SATA-PATA bridge but with the BIOS that lets you skip it, I really don't understand why it is annoying anymore
