Access connections cannot control my wifi

#1 Post by mirobe » Mon Jul 31, 2006 5:49 am

Hello,

I have already read some posts, but I am not sure if this
is the issue.

IBM Wireless LAN Adapter Software (11a/b, 11b/g, 11a/b/g) v. 3.1.102.23
ThinkVantage Access Connections v. 4.12

I know there are some issues with Fn+f5 clicking.

When wifi card enabled in windows (control panel-network connections) I see it in fn+f5 as disabled and I am unable to turn it on.

When I disable it in my windows connections, I no longer see it in my
fn+f5. I can only manage bluetooth then.

The same problems is when I try to use 'access connections' to find/manage wifi. It's available only when wifi enabled in windows (systray icon available), but I can not turn it on ..

Maybe this is a configuration issue?

Thanks!

Are you operating as a normal user? You can set Access Connections to provide users with the authority to change profiles.

I have admin privileges. No limits.

When running AC with wifi disabled in control panel/connections
I can only manage bluetooth connections nor wifi.

Thanks

dunno if this will help or not...

I had a h/d failure in my t42p, restored from media set, then ran the software installer to get all updates. At the end of that - same situation - Fn-F5 was unable to turn on the wireless radio.

I fixed mine by manually downloading the latest wireless driver from the IBM/Lenovo support site and installing it. After that, it "just worked"

I don't know if it will help you, but click teh sticky at the top of the forum and read the 2nd page. I had a HUGE problem with Fn+F5 that I fixed by running that program.

Hello,

Tried this download:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... vu23ww.exe ~4MB

Didn't help.

I'm confused as I'm new in a Thinkpad world.. and some write
about Intel driver, some not.

I didn't install any other than SI software.
Maybe I should roll back to AC < 4.12 and the driver ?

If this worked for anyone, can you please share the link ?

Thanks for all your answers.

I had problems after switching 2200BG to Atheros, I installed AC v3.82 off the site, then upgraded up to 4.12 after, and it worked...

try that. hth
