keyboard fix?

#1 Post by jaynyls » Fri Aug 13, 2004 8:31 pm

hey all,

since my last post today, I fixed the "SM Bus" problem by reinstalling the intel chipset control drivers. The only thing remaining is to get the keyboard functions to work, like the volume control and access ibm functions. Some of the Fn things work, like the back light, but others don't like the zoom in function (Fn + Spacebar)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

Sounds like some of your IBM software is missing/corrupt. The full-screen magnifier and hotkey configurations are separate programs. Hit the Access IBM button, choose Protect & Recover, Recover your computer data, and at the bottom you'll see "ThinkPad FullScreen Magnifer", "Thinkpad web navigation key agents," "On Screen Display," etc.

jaynyls, for the IBM fn keys you need the Hot Key features. These can be downloaded from the first link I gave you in your other thread:

X21 (upgrade: 384MB ram 60GB 7200rpm)
T42 2378-DXU (upgrade: 1.5GB ram 60GB 7200rpm)
Z60m 2531-MTU (upgrade: 2GB ram)

got it. thanks a bunch.

really isn't all that difficult to format the thinkpad and start from scratch. considering these were the only two obstacles for a first time run, it isn't terribly difficult.
