Sounds to be an excellent price, given nothing shady is hidden behind this deal. I've got mine (2668-6ZU) which is similarily specified (except of having regular XGA screen 1024x768) off Ebay in brand new condition (sealed box) with original IBM 3 years warrany for 1050$ and considered it as the very good deal also (and still do, the machine proved to be a workhorse for my study needs so far, knocking into wood...).
If the only factor that distiguishes the one you're offered frem the brand new one is that the box is opened (and eveything inside is sealed) - the price is alsmot too good to be true. Check it once again and if everything loosk good - go for it.

14.1" T43 2668-6ZU machine.
ATI x300, 1GB RAM, 40 GB HDD, all the connectivity (except of Bluetooth), DVD/CD-WR Combo...
Still excited about this great machine...

Can't get to Raleigh, I'm in central Ohio.

I got this system but 14.1" (which I find is better), with 1 less GB, 40GB 5400rpm and a 6 cell for about 33% less at $650.Hangul wrote:Can't get to Raleigh, I'm in central Ohio.

The warranty was also NBD on-site until around 6/08 as well... $325 could easily get you a 100GB 7200rpm, a 9 cell, and a few extra GB of RAM.
It's good, but there are better..
IMHO, screen size is the matter of personal convenience.
I also was contemplating between 14" and 15" (actually a wide screen 15.4") sizes, but finally went for a smaller 14.1" and never looked back. For my goals (mobile technical computing) its just fine, the machine is reasonably light and small while providing adequate screen size and I lug it with me almost to any locations.
However would I also consider more then very moderate multimedia usage, a larger screen would probably win, albeit at the price of bulk and weight.
I would say if you consider one as kind of desktop replacement and do not consider lugging it too much around - larger screen would probaly have more appeal, however for mobile work (not entrertainment, but work and study) a regular 14.1" does better for me. Just IMHO...

The 14" are preferred by those who are mobile. The 15" adds some weight and size that many find to be significant. THe 15" are also flexview, which do get better viewing angle and brightness but also consume more power.
As for the price of the T42, I think the previous T43 was better deal. The T42 is okay but not something to be amazed at.
