T40 Freeze when moved around

#1 Post by nelson_vladimir » Thu Aug 03, 2006 4:53 am

Hi all!

I have a problem, again.

My T40 will freeze when moved around, seems like if you very slightly bend the machine, it hangs.

Power light ON.
Battery light ON.
But all programmes freezed, and MP3 stopped playing too.
Screen showing vertical stripes.

Anyone has similar experience?
I hope it is a hardware problem, and luckily, my warrarnty expires in 1.5 month time... hope they can fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the motherboard has been strained a bit physically. The solder points Definitely contact tech support and get it switched out.

Oddly enough I had a same problem with my T42, was contacting them and had a schedule set up.. when all of a sudden it fixed itself. Hasn't reappeared in 4 months and counting

HI Bgradid, thx for your reply. And I think i saw that other post of that poor guy who has more of less the same problem, his shuts down by itself.

Oh well, I hate those problem whic appears, and disappear, and reappear again, which i cannot repeat. How many times you have to call someone to fix the TV or something, while the TV behaving perfectly normal when the technician is there, and hell break lose again when he left 10 seconds later....

YOu know that, if IBM couldnt repeat or diagonist the problem you claim your Thinkpad has, they are going to charge you for $$$, bad.

Oh anyway, it is working perfectly fine if i not try to move it...

well if you can 100% reproduce it every time you move it, then I would send it in.

if it only happens occasionally then I would think worse about sending it in ;)
