T40 freeze

#1 Post by bigben20 » Fri Aug 04, 2006 9:16 am

I just can't come up with any better way to describe the problem. Anyway after I turn on the power switch
>> computer checking the status of the embedded security chip
>> Welcome Press CLTR-ALT-DEL to Log on
>> Client Security Solution Logon
>> I enter Windows Password
>> I get to desktop (at the same time I can read some C:/system/blah blah blah mesagge on the top lefthand side of the screen too fast to read.

And then everything except Trackpoint pointing device, Touchpad, Cltr+ALtr+Delete stops working. Totally dead. Trackpoint buttons(left one) only works after I press CLTR+ALTR+DEL
I reseated the keyboard to sure its not at fault. It didn't do any good.
Can some enlighten me here? Any help appreciated.

you might have a virus or some issues with windows

See if you can restore your partition or reinstall it.

I reinstalled windows xp. I ran Nod32 antivirus, Spybot S&D and avast virus cleaner. The problem seems to go away for a while but as soon as I press page back (takes back to previous page while browsing internet) everything stops except the buttons I mentioned above in my original post. Same problem all over again. Is there any way I can dissable that particular key on the keyboard?
