T43p keyboard/touchpad freeze when using wireless

#1 Post by tokjdm » Sun Aug 06, 2006 1:47 am

My T43p got a bad shock and I had to replace the LCD panel (under warranty, no problem so far). Since it came back from Lenovo, I have experienced a strange problem, I am not sure that this is related to wireless but I can't think of anything else. Suddenly, the mouse and keyboard freeze, sometime for a few second, sometime for much longer. When I use the ethernet connection, everything works fine. Only when I am at home and use the wireless connection does this happen but not all the time. Since I always use the same applications, I don't think it would come from there.
The wireless connection works fine otherwise.
I would be grateful for any clues

T53p
WinXPSP2 (Japanese version)
Firefox 1.06

I would monitor processes via "Windows Task Manager" and find out which process was heavily exploiting my CPU.

Try do do a system restore to a previous date before the "problem"
X32/2.0GHZ/2GB/ENGENIUS EMP-8602+S 600mw mini pci/WD 250GB
X60/1.83GHZ/2GB/Atheros/7K100

I monitored the processes with the windows task manager and found nothing. The cpu utilization rate was low (4%) and no strange or unusual process was active.
I restored the system to its shipping condition and the problem appeared again. It must then be a hardware issue or the only thing I can think of are the latest version of firefox or zone alarm. The Lenovo customer care people are never going to accept to look at my T43p if I can isolate the problem better. The fact that it happens mostly at home is really curious. It appeared yesterday even though I was using the wired connection and not the wireless one.

After running PcDoctor, I found defects on the hard disk. Lenovo is shipping a new hard disk. I will see if that solves the problem.
