Hibernation no longer working after SP2

#1 Post by Skywing » Sat Aug 14, 2004 4:45 pm

well i did a fresh install of SP2 on my T42 and everything was fine until i went to turn hibernation on. I get a message saying "The process cannot reserve the hiberation file, it is being used by another process". I cant figure this out for the life of me, even tried ending every possible process i could. I went into the power maximizer wizard and created a hibernation file through that and it still wouldnt turn hibernation on. anyone have any ideas?

Try disabling hibernation, reboot, and re-enable it.

I read that it could have something to do with virtual drive emulators like DAEMON Tools and Nero.

If you have any of them installed try removing them and see if hibernation still wont work.

Seeing that reminds me, there is an update for SP2 on the Nero website.

it creates virtual CD drives that allows you to mount CD Images so they act as if theyre inserted into a CD drive while residing on your hard drive

SP2 is scary. My company won't let us install it because it breakes VPN software. I will wait until they have SP2 patches available.
