T40 airline adapter

I was wondering what adapter I need to buy for my T40 to be able to work while flying?

I've seen a ton on Ebay, but before I dish out the money I'd like to know which one I should get? Some on Ebay say they are compatible with T40 and some not.

Am I just better off getting it directly from IBM? Some on Ebay go for $20 while I hear the IBM one is around $100. I'd prefer to spend the least amount possible, but looking for something that works.

Any help is appreciated!

the one from IBM is auto/air... don't know about the ones from ebay....

What is the cost of the one from IBM and will the same one work on a T41p?

BTW, the one from IBM (which works on AC, auto or air) is BIG by my standards. I would much prefer specialized adapters for AC and DC that are small and light.

I like the AC adapter, for instance, but the combo adapter is a monster (IMHO).

Targus has a very light DC adapter that works well for all T-series.

Not the only trick is to find a plane witht he right socket. Other than International Business class - I can never find one.

Just FYI the auto/air adapter it's the same thing. Airplanes and automobiles have the same DC Input.

DC is the hole in the your automobile

AC is the slots in your house.

Just informational for people that don't know which one is which.

Also najibs, personally I just noted the part number / fru numer from ibm's website and do a search on the internet for it. That's how I purchased my IBM USB Floppy Drive. However, other items like my 2200b/g card which I can't use I purchased from IBM's website directly thinking that it needed be IBM specific, which I still think holds true only because if you compare the intel 2200bg and the intel/ibm 2200b/g there is a 10 - 15 $ price difference.

but I thought the air part of the adapter was a special connector for the airplane???

It is. Kind of a 4-pin DIN if I remember correctly.

The auto-air adapter is freaking MASSIVE. It's got a normal 2-prong power cord like the AC-only bricks, and then it has a DIN-style (think PS/2 but a little different pinout) plug that has a normal 12V cigarette-style plug like you find in cars.

I got mine for around $90 shipped from eBay.

As others have said the IBM adapter is huge.

By far my favorite is the iGO Juice. I can can one adapter that powers just about everything in my bag and it looks really cool.
