Well, this sounds like the problem we had. I will update now and see what happens later...Version 3.21 Fix windows logoff problem. (version 3.20 only).
Win XP Pro hangs shuttin down after Access Connect update?
I installed V3.21 and it is working for me so far (that is, the computer shuts down properly).
When I opened my case with IBM, they said they had not seen the problem. I mentioned that this forum contained lots of evidence the problem existed and I pointed IBM to it. They were reading my post over the phone, so I know they got in and were looking. I hoped we helped them.

To open a case with IBM, I first check my own work, then check here, then check google to make sure a solution isn't readily available. Then I call 416-383-3344 in Toronto, pick a support option that goes with warranty, then explain my problem. I have always been able to get IBM to help. Thank you. ... jdhurst
Ok, this thing is not out of the woods yet.
If you install Access Connections 3.21 and don't set it up or don't use it, there are no problems (in my experience thus far).
If you install it and use it (i.e., set it up, let in run and be in the system tray), there are no problems (in my experience thus far).
If you install it, set it up, don't run it and take it to a different network that doesn't require Access Connections, it still hangs on logout.
I need to pick this up with IBM again. .... jdhurst

Re: Win XP Pro hangs shuttin down after Access Connect updat
Friends: IBM posted this week Version 3.21. It seems to get rid fo the shut don (log-off) problem.gv wrote: I think this could be related to the Access Connection update to version 3.20 as I updated it on both TPs yesterday morning. But at this stage I am not sure about that. As both TPs basically have the same software configuration it could be something else, too, that was just updated with an automatic update...

A great forum
This is a great forum. I had the power down problem and tried almost everything in vain. Then I saw the simple solution here
Thanks!
Re: A great forum
Glad to hear that.

Just to confirm that:
1. Access Connections 3.21 still has problems. Sometimes I can logoff properly. Half the time I cannot. It still cannot switch reliably between networks. I can reliably re-create the problem.
2. I have kept the case open with IBM. They tell me I need to uninstall the Advanced Networking Pack. I think they read that here
. I don't wish to uninstall Windows updates; rather, I wish IBM would make their software work with up-to-date Windows systems.
3. I have no problems with 3.1 and have gone back to 3.1 until they fix the problem. IBM said they were sending the problem back to engineering.

I'm using 3.21 with an IBM 11abg card. No more problems logging off or shutting down. However, when switching profiles it never completely connects on the first try. It usually gets stuck waiting for IP configuration or connecting to the access point.

If someone needs AC 3.1 it can be downloaded from IBM's FTP site. The file is 1UCN31WW.ZIP.
