Bluetooth on T42

Hi everyone,

I have a T42 model 2373-NA5.
I am interested in upgrading it to bluetooth. I suppose one thing is to replace the Modem Daughter Card with a Bluetooth Modem Daughter Card. But I don't know wether my model is bluetooth ready, as in wether there is a bluetooth antenna installed or not.

Can anyone tell me where I can find this info?

Or should I just buy a Bluetooth PC Card or USB Bluetooth card?

Your T42 might be a customized one, and based on 2373-8YA. If you check this site, you will see that this model has the Bluetooth antenna in the LCD, so you just need the clear plate (FRU: 13R2455) and the BMDC-2 (FRU: 91P7319). Just enter these FRU numbers here and complete the check out. The site might not recognise the part numbers. In that case call IBM.

One more thing. On http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... GR-55304#4 they say 2373-8Yx is equiped with the bluetooth wireless antenna but there is no information on the 2373-8Yx on http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-46464 which I saw you also recommended on other threads.

I looked it up in the HMM too, but couldn't find it either. But IBM FRU parts list sites are usually right, so you shouldn't worry. Where did you buy your TP? Trough your company or trough an IBM seller? I just try to figure out the origin of this model number.

I bought it through an education sale.

I was wondering. Since I will be replacing my MDC-2 with BMDC-2 I will have a space MDC-2. Do you know wether I could sell that someway?

Maybe, but since every T42 comes with a MDC-2, it will be difficult. Just post it in our For sale/Want to buy forum. But frankly, since IBM's price is $22.25, I would just keep it. It's not going to be the deal of the year.
