Why So Slooooooow?
New T42p. Installed ZoneAlarm and am getting ready to install Cookie Crusher, Spampal & a few others and all of a sudden the system slowed to a crawl. I suspect it's something in ZoneAlarm? as I've been on the web twice prior to installing ZA with no problems. But now, this message for example - when I clicked on New Topic it took almost a minute for the New Topic page to appear and sometimes when I click on a page it will never load. The hourglass next to the pointer arrow is on almost constantly even when I have given no instructions/no activity should be in progress. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks.
Just a thought, but if you have XP SP2 installed,Zonealarm was one of the listed programs that was having problems with SP2,if so,maybe see if they've released a patch for it yet....

i suggest a fresh install of xp if nothing else works. there's nothing better than customizing your entire system from scratch. if you install everything one step at a time you're almost guaranteed to have no problems. make sure to burn a cd of the all the necessary thinkpad drivers and utilities first though. you can find them on ibm's website - search "t42p driver matrix".
