T43 CTO-2668 Wireless Networking Problem

#1 Post by PolyGoniX » Wed Aug 16, 2006 5:03 pm

hello everybody!
im kinda new here (regeed today..) but ive heard some great compliments about that site/forum.

okay, there's my problem -
ive got my new t43 about one week ago.
i didnt noticed that my specific model (2668) equipped with NO WIRELESS miniPCI adapter at all (!) he just have an empty miniPCI slot.
i went to IBM labs in my area (Tel-Aviv,IL) and they offered my to order a wireless card (FRU) that costs like 150$ (!!)
"no thank you" was my answer.
i got an intel pro 2200BG from a local reseller.
installed it, and then.... - "1802 an unauthorized blah blah blah"
okay, ive searchced the net trying to find a solution (and believe me - i know HOW TO search) all i can found was some patches (no-1802.com etc.) and some bios hacks/mods i didn't want to use.
the no-1802.com isn't working in my case (t43)
and frankly, im kinda despert.

if someone here can grab me a solution i'll be very glad.
thanks in advance everyone.

PS: please forgive me if ive got some misstypes.. EN is not my primary language. :-)

No. My T43 has 2200BG as a standard installed WiFi out of the factory, can't complain about its performance - quite good.

To nirvana0001 - hey bro...I thought I'm the onlly Israeli here, welcome on board. I own T43 (see my sig) for about 3-4 monhts now, brought it brand new from US by airmail, couldn't be happier - huge saving comparative to our insane local prices (as your certainly aware about...).
I'm also located near TA, your most welcomed to get in touch with me - I'll be PMing you..

nirvana, my laptop came with NO wireless adapter. my current 2200BG adapter is fresh and no FRU approval.
becide the fact that it's exactly the same card - he's not in the bios white list... so recovery kit wont do no good here.

i need a program/code similar to no-8102.com (which written for "old" tp's (t40 etc.) with pci/agp bus. t43 is pci-e (different bios architecture) so that patch can't apply in this case.

hi all,
well, ive downloaded the latest bios update from ibm/lenovo website, bios version 1.28 (1YUJ17US) i used the vfdwin.exe (virtual floppy drive) to extract the image content, got some dos boot loader files, some doc's and - probablly what im looking for, a file called - $0197000.FL1 with a size of 800K.

now, that file ain't got no *.rom extension so i can't edit it with PhoenixFirst Bios Editor :-(
it probablly zipped/scrambled somehow but im pretty sure he doe's contain a *.rom image within.

if someone can plz enlight me about that issue or refer me to a source that have more information about *.FL1 files and how to workaround them i will be VERY grateful.
thanks in advance :-)
